CURRICULUM GENERATOR
About the Game
Play this game to create a new, experimental curriculum for teaching and learning with works of art in and related to the exhibition Alien vs. Citizen. This CURRICULUM GENERATOR was inspired by other online generators—it works by prompting the users to input content, and then helps to organize those ideas into a planned sequence of learning. Creativity is required.
This CURRICULUM GENERATOR was originally designed for use during MCA Learning’s 2020 Summer Residencies. We brought together teachers, artists, and youth to generate new, unexpected ideas together. We created this game with teens and adults in mind.
HOW TO USE THE CURRICULUM GENERATOR
This game was designed for virtual learning. It’s structured so that a large group can play it together. Divide your group into smaller groups of four to six people and assign them to breakout rooms. The game unfolds in phases. After each phase is complete, there is time for the small group to return to the large group and share what they’ve done so far.
Make sure each small group has access to the digital PDF of the CURRICULUM GENERATOR and the ability to use Google Docs. The small groups will need to proceed through the CURRICULUM GENERATOR together, completing tasks and occasionally navigating to other places on the internet.
Submit your results using the link provided at the end of the generator, and we’ll host them below.
Curriculum Generator Results
These curricula are whimsical and vary from possible and practical to impossible and absurd. Don't be afraid of the latter. There's still potential learning in the impossible. The style and format of these results are indebted to a cardinal source of inspiration: Linda Montano’s Art/Life Institute Handbook
