Tony Oursler‘s work incorporates model-making, video, performance, and sculpture. In Guilty (1995), a piece from the MCA permanent collection, Oursler fused everyday materials—a mattress, fabric, used clothing—with images projected from a small video projector to create a cartoonish figure. Oursler has created a series of such works. Each has its own personality and monologue through which it acts out roles that are alternately angry, alienated, and self-pitying. This installation is on view in the MCA’s video gallery, located on the third floor of the museum.
