Exhibition
Fake Ecstasy With Me
This exhibition showcases 14 works recently given to the MCA by Hudson, owner of Feature Gallery in New York. A painter and art educator who also performed as a dancer, Hudson operated Feature Gallery in Chicago from 1984 to 1988, showing work by Chicago-based artists such as Michael Banicki, Jeanne Dunning, Hirsch Perlman, David Robbins, and Tony Tasset. The gift and exhibition includes works by these artists as well as Jim Iserman, Robert Mapplethorpe, Lily van der Stokker, B. Wurtz and the artists group General Idea. The exhibition, co-curated by Hudson and MCA Curator of Collections Lucinda Barnes, also incorporates compatible works from the museumís holdings. The exhibition title flirts with the notion that art may significantly alter oneís consciousness, both for the maker and for the viewer.
