Decades in Dialogue: Perspectives on the MCA Collection

Saturday, Feb 27–Sunday, Oct 31, 1999

Marion & Jerome H. Stone Gallery

Decades in Dialogue: Perspectives on the MCA Collection organizes groups of works thematically. The groups juxtapose works by different generations of artists, illustrating the aesthetic and conceptual developments in art since mid-century. The exhibition is divided according to the following categories: bizarre and fantastic imagery, materials and subjects of mass culture, techniques of layering in painting, and the repetition of forms. In addition to presenting new perspectives on the MCA Collection, this exhibition displays many newly acquired works or works that have not been previously displayed at the museum.
