Exhibition

California Scheming

Saturday, Feb 14–Sunday, May 31, 1998

Exploring the work of the last two generations of Californian artists, this exhibition focuses on art displaying a fascination with West Coast culture and in particular Hollywood—both its artificiality and the fantasies it generates. In work that is frequently humorous, often cynical, and occasionally romantic, these artists ambiguously embrace the unavoidable influence of popular culture.

This exhibition is part of the Permanent Collection In Focus series.
