Abigail Lane is a young British artist working in London. Lane’s work is concerned with bodily traces. Her wax casts, recorded sound works, and wallpaper projects (printed from impressions of ink-covered body parts) are the result of direct contact with the human body. As a result, each image, sculpture, or installation implies an absent human presence, a “missing person” that Lane uses to explore themes of espionage and surveillance. Her work has been included in many group exhibitions, including Some Went Mad, Some Ran Away . . . at the MCA and Brilliant at the Walker Art Center. She has had a solo exhibition at the ICA in London. Lane will create a new installation, the first solo show of the artist’s work in the United States, for the MCA’s South Project Gallery.
