The MCA’s Teen Creative Agency (TCA) invites you to Dance-Dance Reggaetón: A Discoteca for Youth. Inspired by the MCA exhibition Dancing the Revolution, which focuses on the history of dancehall and reggaetón within visual art, this youth-led event transforms the Commons into a dance floor.
Come and enjoy a TCA-curated playlist featuring reggaetón, dancehall, and other genres created in or influenced by the Caribbean alongside a video projection created by TCA playing at the event. In addition to dancing, there will also be cozy spaces for hanging out, a bracelet-making (and trading) activity with guided discussion questions, a TCA-curated snack menu, and giveaways of past zines made by TCA and limited-edition handmade prints by TCA featuring the music playlist from the afternoon.
At the MCA, the Teen Creative Agency not only views but also engages with contemporary art and artists. This program highlights how the MCA makes museum resources accessible to youth so that they may dream, plan, and create responses to the issues that are important to them.
