• Who can sign up?

  Any person over the age of 18 in a leadership role within a Chicago youth organization, youth group, nonprofit, or other youth-focused program can sign up to participate. If you are under the age of 18, ask an adult in your program to fill out the sign up form.

• Is there an age range for youth?

  These free workshops are designed for youth ages 14–21; however, groups with youth as young as 12 may participate. For younger groups, please consider coming to the museum for a self-guided visit.

• How many people can I bring?

  You can bring up to 60 young people on one day. Groups will be broken into teams of roughly 15 young people for the workshop portion of the day. Two teams will be able to participate in the workshop at a time, while the other two teams are viewing the exhibition. Then the teams will switch.

• Is there a limit or suggested number of chaperones?

  We ask that you bring at least one chaperone per 15 youths. Additional chaperones are welcome.

• How will bussing be coordinated?

  MCA staff will coordinate bussing with the information provided by the adult who signs up for the workshops. There is no cost for busses.

• Is 10 am the ONLY time we can come for a workshop?

  Yes, at this time we are only scheduling these specific workshops at 10 am.

• Do we need to bring anything for the workshop?

  No! The MCA will handle EVERYTHING. Bring yourself and your youth and prepare for a good time.

• What is the workshop about?

  The design workshops will explore different topics related to the Virgil Abloh exhibit. General topics might include: finding your design language, making a mood board, human-centered design, repurposing or reusing, deejaying, architecture, product design, and fashion.

• Is there somewhere to eat lunch in, or around, the museum?

  The museum can get quite crowded around lunchtime! If your group wants to bring lunches and the weather is nice, you are welcome to eat on the front stairs or back patio. The MCA also has a restaurant, Marisol, with a counter service option at lunch, although the wait time can be long for large groups. Additionally, there are several restaurant options in the surrounding area.

• If I sign up for a group of 15, the form asks me to choose Group 1 or Group 2. Is there a difference?

  There is no difference between signing up for Group 1 or Group 2.

• Can I bring more than 30 students?

  When you open the form, you’ll be able to select whether you’re bringing a group of 15 or 30 students. If you want to bring a group that is larger than 30, you’ll have to select multiple tours on a given day. For instance, if you want to bring a group of 60 students, you’ll need to sign up for one group of 30 and two groups of 15. You’ll have to look for a day when the tour for 30 people and both Group 1 and Group 2 are available in the drop down menu.
