Interdisciplinary artist Jonas Becker explores the intersection of land, identity, and politics. His recent projects reflect on extraction as a metaphor for broader socioeconomic issues. In this work in progress, Becker builds on land-based metaphors to engage participants in a multisensory exploration of the “new normal.”

This work is performed and created in collaboration with Aram Atamian, Fran E. Gallagher, Li-Ming Hu, Sami Ismat, Zach Nicol, Julian Terrell Otis, Divyamaan Sahoo, Luan Joy Sherman, Jeremy Toussaint-Baptiste, and Katie Wood.

In Progress is a series of public programs designed to give artists, thinkers, and curators a platform for developing new works and to give patrons a glimpse into the creative process. In Progress is organized by January Parkos Arnall, Curator of Public Programs, and Christy LeMaster, Assistant Curator of Public Programs.
