Comprised of quilting, collage, photography, screen prints, and mail and sound art, Making Ends Meet features a series of letters between the artists of the TCA and the YBA. Drawing on the practices of social engagement and community organizing, the work follows another collaboration with the local art and advocacy group A Long Walk Home over the past year, culminating in two installations within the MCA exhibition Andrea Bowers.

This capstone project invites the viewer into an open dialogue concerning place, identity, and care. Through a range of mediums, the works reflect the collective artistic efforts of two different youth-led organizations in the city of Chicago as they focus on the importance of autonomy, storytelling, and play.

Through this work, the current cohort of TCA—including Ari Antos, Chase Baldwin, Cassy Castillo-Valentin, Angelina Cofer, Elvis Hernandez, and Isaiah Robinson—continue their commitment to sharing resources for young artists. This exhibition showcases and documents their creativity, determination, and solidarity as TCA works towards Making Ends Meet.
