Contemporary sound-based artists transform your MCA experience on select Fridays with custom soundtracks reflecting their perspective of works on view in the museum.

About this event

For this virtual Soundtrack, acclaimed singer-songwriter, author, painter, performance artist, and actor Justin Vivian Bond and installation artist Jim Hodges cocreate a playlist to coincide with their virtual Music Talk on the same day. Mining a shared history of exchanging songs and playlists throughout decades of friendship and collaboration, the two artists explore themes of resistance, power, and tenderness through music.

This Soundtrack is organized by Tara Aisha Willis, Associate Curator and the Performance and Public Practice team.

Check out the Music Talk on October 30, when Bond and Hodges share an intimate evening of performance and conversation revealing their art world anecdotes, shared ideas, and creative inspirations. Music Talks pair powerhouse musicians pushing the boundaries of musical genres with prolific artists, activists, writers, and thinkers to take on big ideas in art and culture.
