about

Contemporary sound-based artists transform your MCA experience on select Fridays with custom soundtracks reflecting their perspective of works on view in the museum. DJ sets and bands occupy spaces in the museum as the building itself amplifies their sound constructions.

For this virtual Soundtrack, soul and R&B singer Nola Ade plays a live set from home of original music in response to works from the MCA collection.

Soundtrack is organized by Cameron McEwen, Coordinator, with January Parkos Arnall, Curator, and the Performance and Public Practice team.

About the artist

As a first-generation Nigerian American born and raised in Chicago, Nola Ade embodies the immigrant spirit of hope and positivity. Her musical stylings and boisterous voice reflect her dual upbringing. Ade garnered widespread attention by opening for shows with international recording artists Bilal, Avery*Sunshine, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, Daley, Jesse Boykins III, and Mali Music. Her music has been featured in Afropunk, Soul Train, Rolling Out, SoulBounce, Jet magazine, and more.
