Tuesdays on the Terrace At-Home Edition with Julius Tucker

Tuesdays on the Terrace is the MCA's summer jazz series celebrating Chicago's robust music scene. Audio broadcasts are available on Facebook Live every Tuesday, July through September, from 5:30–6:30 pm. This week, Julius Tucker plays two solo piano sets in homage to legendary jazz pianists past and future.

about the artist

Julius Tucker is a recent graduate of Northwestern University where he pursued a double major in jazz piano at the Bienen School of Music and civil engineering at its McCormick School of Engineering. Tucker has been studying piano for almost 16 years and has been blessed to share these years with many musicians and mentors that have carved his musical voice—which ranges from jazz to house music. He is especially known for his complex sensitivities and agile fluidity on the piano and keyboard which have become his signature style. Tucker performed at the 2018 Chicago and Hyde Park Jazz Festivals, and played at numerous venues including The Green Mill, Room43, Andy's Jazz Club, and Jazz Showcase. He was named a Luminarts Fellow in jazz improvisation in 2016.
