About

Greg Ward is a saxophonist and composer who was born in Peoria, Illinois. Currently based in Chicago, Ward has had the opportunity to perform and record with a wide group of artists including Prefuse 73, Lupe Fiasco, Tortoise, William Parker, Andrew D'Angelo, Mike Reed, and Linda Oh. As a bandleader, he has released three recordings and in 2010, his Chicago-based band, Fitted Shards, released South Side Story. In 2011, he released a trio record, Phonic Juggernaut, which featured bassist Joe Sanders and drummer Damion Reid. In 2015, Ward was commissioned by the city of Chicago for a musical response to Charles Mingus's Black Saint and the Sinner Lady. The recording of this work, Touch My Beloved’s Thought, was released on Greenleaf Music in 2016.
