DiasporaX

About

DiasporaX is as space to advance Latinx engagement. It is a series of events, online and offline, that connects makers and other professionals to Latinx environments to redefine the image of the Latinx in western art. Through studio visits, resource sharing, space claiming, and most importantly, community, DiasporaX advances the conversation beyond self-marginalizing cliches.

At this event, participants have an opportunity to meet with power players in the community. Provided with a prompt, the conversations engage self marginalization and representation. Everyone leaves with a new connection—we are each others mentors, not through capital, but through community.

This project is part of Lean Artist Chicago, a work commissioned by the MCA.
