Registration for winter/spring 2019 guided tours begins at 9 am on Friday, November 30.
A limited number of free tours are offered to Illinois student groups, grades 1–12, October–May. Advance, online registration is required. Registration for fall (Oct–Dec) tours begins August 30 and registration for winter/spring (Jan–May) tours begins November 30. Participating Chicago Public Schools classes are eligible for free busing.
Artist-Led Tour, Grades 1–12
Students join a teaching artist for a dialogue-based tour focusing on current exhibitions at the MCA. Tours are offered Tuesday–Friday at 10 and 11 am. Each 50-minute tour is available for a maximum of 35 students.*
Creation Lab, Grades 3–12
Students join a teaching artist for a dialogue-based tour focusing on current exhibitions at the MCA and an interactive studio workshop component. Creation labs are offered Tuesday–Friday at 10 am. This is a two-hour experience for up to 30 students.*
Aug 30 Registration begins for fall tours (Oct–Dec).
Nov 30 Registration begins for winter/spring tours (Jan–May).
*To ensure an equitable distribution of MCA resources, we ask that schools book no more than five Artist-Led Tours and/or Creation Labs per registration period.

JUNE–SEPTEMBER, GRADES K–12
Teachers may independently lead groups of up to 30 students through the museum by scheduling a Self-guided visit.
Self-guided visits are available ONLY to Illinois student groups: grades 9–12, October–May, and grades K–12, June–September. Self-guided visits can be scheduled starting at noon during the school year (Oct–May) and starting at 10 am during the summer (Jun–Sep).
