About the event

Maggie Brown embodies a powerful and passionate performance whether she is presenting with her own trio or with Orbert Davis’s full 60-piece Chicago Jazz Philharmonic Orchestra. Though her upbringing is rooted in jazz, Maggie is comfortable singing various genres including blues, gospel, pop, and even rapping—with impressive conviction and flow. It is hard to put her in a single category or genre. It is, however, easy to see that this seasoned artist is a true entertainer, not just another singer.

She is joined on the Anne and John Kern Terrace by Shawn Wallace (piano), Dexter Sims (bass), Peter Manheim (drums), and Samuel Mosching (guitar).

Tuesdays on the Terrace

Enjoy an evening of free music on the MCA's Anne and John Kern Terrace Garden with our annual summer performance series highlighting artists from Chicago's internationally renowned jazz community.

Dine on our terrace and enjoy a buffet, which features a changing menu of themed dishes using fresh, locally grown produce from the SOAR Farmers Market. Reserve a table by calling 312-397-3805. The buffet is $27 per person.

For a more impromptu evening, open seating is available on our terrace or bring a blanket to relax on the lawn. Food may be purchased from our outdoor grill along with cold beverages, wine, and seasonal cocktails from the bar in the sculpture garden.

Sorry, outside food and beverages are not allowed.

In case of rain, the event takes place inside the MCA Café.
