Here Lies Truth

event description

Inspired by Edgar Lee Masters's classic book Spoon River Anthology, this performance combines text, movement, sound, music, and video to ask: What are the consequences of speaking one's mind in an effort to convey what is understood to be true? How does one version of the truth play against another? How does being drawn to a particular truth affect our personal memories or, even, the collective memory of an entire town? City? Country?

This project is the collaborative effort of seven Chicago artists including writer/vocalist Sherry Antonini, musicians Brendan Byrnes and Eli Sabbagh, movement artists Anida Yoeu Ali, Cristal Sabbagh, and Alycia Scott, and video artists Niki Nolin and Jason Shipley.
