About

Susan Giles uses innovative video techniques to examine issues related to travel and tourism. For her MCA exhibition, she debuts Panzoomtilt, a six-monitor video installation, in which she collected travel footage from friends and acquaintances and edited together each of the most basic film shots—zoom in, zoom out, pan left and right, and pan up and down—that direct how and what we see. Many of the scenes are only a few seconds long, reflecting the quick and often superficial experience one has as a tourist.
