Malick Sidibé

About the Exhibition

Malick Sidibé, an historical figure in African photography, is represented for the first time in Chicago with a large selection of his photographs. This exhibition emphasizes the sophisticated creative approach that many artists have been developing since the early 1970s on the African continent. Sidibé’s works serves as an excellent counterpart to Laylah Ali’s drawings, creating a dialogue between two perspectives of African and American history.

This exhibition is curated by André Magnin and organized by MCA Manilow Senior Curator Francesco Bonami.
