Chicago artist Rachel Ellison's Rehearsals for Ways of Being is an evolving series that explores social interactions in the cultural space of a contemporary museum by creating interruptions in the form of intimate, one-on-one experiences for visitors.
About the Artist
Rachel Ellison is an artist, a student of ritual, and a sculptor of experiences based in Chicago. Her performance-events are created using strategies to rethink, recontextualize, and re-perform scenes of everyday life. Each piece pulls from an evolving register of forms to highlight the significance of gesture; the politics of the personal, secular, and religious ritual; and fantasy in relation to a multiplicity of subjectivities. Within this space, Ellison brings people together to engage, speak, watch, think, and feel in unusual ways.
