Ken Fandell

About

An on-going fascination with appropriating the world around him—from the sky above him to the ground beneath his feet work—lies at the core of Ken Fandell’s work. For his 12 x 12 exhibition at the MCA, Fandell includes two large-scale photographs of the sky and a video of the numerous photographs he used to digitally compile these works. Through obsessive photography of the sky above—whether at home or in his travels—Fandell creates an objective yet idiosyncratic document of the passage of time. Through the digital manipulation of these photographs, which were taken over many months, Fandell marks and makes visible his exploration of time through an intricate montage of ephemeral and perpetually changing cloud formations, sunsets, and full moons.
