Artist Michael Rakowitz signs copies of the new MCA catalogue Michael Rakowitz: Backstroke of the West at EXPO CHICAGO. The signing takes place at the Rhona Hoffman Gallery booth {bio: (#419).

Michael Rakowitz: Backstroke of the West is the first major publication on the work of the acclaimed Iraqi-American artist. Based in Chicago, Michael Rakowitz (b. 1973)} explores contested social, cultural, and political histories in his work. Drawing on history and popular culture, Rakowitz, a natural storyteller, invites viewers to consider their complicit relationship to the world around them. The signing follows a Dialogues panel with Omar Kholeif, Manilow Senior Curator and Director of Global Initiatives at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. The talk is scheduled for 2 pm.
