Coorganized with Hubbard Street Dance Chicago
Rashaun Mitchell and Silas Riener are former dancers with Merce Cunningham Dance Company. Longtime collaborators, they push at the unraveling boundaries of dance research. Since forming their company in 2010 they have developed a keen interest in the way abstraction and representation coincide in the body. This class for advanced students and professionals is designed to engage multiple facets of the self at once while sharpening basic skills for organizing and articulating the body. After a warm-up, Mitchell and Riener introduce phrase work that draws on components of Cunningham's technique and elements of their current repertory.
