Craig Doty
About
Experimenting with the formal elements of photography—light, color, and composition—artist Craig Doty attempts to disrupt the viewing experience. His earlier work dealt with mischievous behavior and the glorification of young men’s fantasies in pseudo-documentary photographs of backyard wrestling, suburban gangs, and college fraternities. His current photographs of people explore representation itself and how images capture the human form in extreme moments such as overwhelming rage, complete exhaustion, and total ecstasy.
