Melanie Schiff’s recent large-scale photographs depict interior spaces. While her previous work has often integrated rock-and-roll iconography and performative gestures, these works examine setting in order to establish a sense of place. Photographs of an artist’s studio and a bedroom within Pachyderm, a famed Minnesota recording studio, refer to the site of creation rather than the creative act.
