About
Examining the structures that permit and encourage surplus, waste, and resource depletion, Material Exchange—a collaborative group consisting of Sara Black, Charles McGhee-Hassrick, and John Preus—aims to minimize unnecessary waste through the creative redesign and reuse of objects. For three months prior to their 12 x 12 exhibition, Material Exchange collects and packages various types of surplus and waste at the MCA. Out of these recycled materials Material Exchange creates both a site-specific and a material-specific installation.
