Basic Instinct: Minimalism Past, Present, and Future

About

Basic Instinct: Minimalism Past, Present, and Future demonstrates how artists working from the mid-1960s to the present have created paintings, sculptures, and installations that emphasize certain essential qualities of art such as material, color, and form. The exhibition, drawn mainly from the MCA Collection, examines how a reductive approach to artistic expression has been adopted and continuously reimagined by artists over the past four decades. Featured artists in the exhibition include Gene Davis, Tony Feher, Doug Ischar, Donald Judd, Jim Lambie, John McCracken, Helen Mirra, Damián Ortega, Richard Rezac, and Robert Smithson.

This exhibition is organized by MCA Associate Curator Dominic Molon.
