Out of Place: Contemporary Art and the Architectural Uncanny
About
Out of Place: Contemporary Art and the Architectural Uncanny presents 14 international artists working in various media to make familiar interior and exterior spaces unfamiliar and unsettling. The work in the exhibition demonstrates how ordinary places can become strange and threatening and how this condition alludes to larger social issues of place and displacement. Artists featured in the exhibition include: Miriam Bäckström, Johanna Bresnick , Monica Bonvicini, Miles Coolidge, Sam Durant, Julia Fish, Teresa Hubbard and Alexander Birchler, Tom Hunter, Doug Ischar, Joachim Koester, Paul Pfeiffer, and Jane and Louise Wilson.
This exhibition is organized by MCA Associate Curator Dominic Molon.
