Perspectives on Terrain
About the Exhibition
This exhibition of 13 works from the MCA Collection shows how contemporary artists associated with a variety of stylistic currents have manipulated images of the landscape, arriving at unexpected representations that defy traditional pictorial genres. The works in the exhibition are not figurative, nor abstract, yet they aren’t traditional landscapes offering a view of a single horizon. Using photography, painting, drawing, and collage, ten artists - Vito Acconci, John Cage, Gunther Forg, Jess, Richard Misrach, Dennis Oppenheim, Gerhard Richter, Robert Stackhouse, Wolf Vostell, and John van’t Slot - explode our expectations of time and space.
This exhibition is organized by MCA Curatorial Assistant Heather Felty.
