David Klamen

About the Exhibition

In his latest body of work, which includes two large-scale canvas paintings, Chicago-based artist David Klamen toys with notions of modern painting and implications that meaning can be a purely optical experience.

Klamen fuses op-art effects with art historical images to create high impact and engaging artworks, which will be on display in the Museum’s second floor lobby. Looking like obsessive crosses between bar codes, puzzles, and old master paintings, these works plead to be interpreted while confronting the viewer with a dizzying kaleidoscope of colors and shapes.
