Jacob Hashimoto has created an installation in the MCA’s M Cafe using 10,000 kites which hang in a cloud-like formation from the ceiling. Each kite is identical, a 9 x 7 inch print with white clouds against a deep blue background constructed with bamboo and string. This installation is the first work by this 1996 School of the Art Institute graduate to be exhibited in a museum. It is part of the MCA’s ongoing series of wall projects.
This commission has been generously supported by Donna and Howard Stone. The project is organized by Amada Cruz, The MCA’s Manilow Curator of Exhibitions.——
