Dan Peterman: Accessories to an Event (plaza)
About the Exhibition
The MCA has commissioned a site-specific work for its front plaza by Dan Peterman, a Chicago-based artist represented in the MCA collection who works with reprocessed materials such as aluminum, glass, and plastics in order to examine and reveal the processes of design, manufacture, distribution, and waste management that are related to the production of consumer goods. Starting with ten 1,700-pound bundles of gray reprocessed plastic planks stacked in the plaza, Peterman, over several weeks, will fabricate a series of sculptures, including benches, tables, and planters.
This project is coordinated by MCA Associate Curator Staci Boris and has been made possible through the generous support of Sara and Bill Nygren.——
