Tuesdays on the Terrace At-Home Edition with Thaddeus Tukes on the Vibes

Tuesdays on the Terrace is the MCA's summer jazz series celebrating Chicago's robust music scene. Audio broadcasts are available on Facebook Live every Tuesday, July through September, from 5:30–6:30 pm. For our first session, we welcome Thaddeus Tukes and his multilayered ensemble to play two sets punctuated by Tukes's signature sound on the vibraphone.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Thaddeus Tukes is a jazz composer, arranger, and percussionist from Chicago. He graduated from Whitney M. Young Magnet High School and Northwestern University, where he studied jazz vibraphone, piano, and journalism. Notably, he is the first person in the United States to receive a degree in jazz vibraphone from a non-conservatory university. Tukes has performed with a variety of artists including Branford Marsalis, Victor Goines, Roy Hargrove, Nicole Mitchell, Joan Collaso, and Chance the Rapper. Tukes was named a Luminarts Jazz Fellow in 2015.
