About
Inspired by Duro Olowu: Seeing Chicago, exhibition curator Naomi Beckwith leads a celebration and investigation with local artists, musicians, and scholars of FESTAC '77, the pivotal Second World Black and African Festival of Arts and Culture that took place in Lagos, Nigeria and was co-led by Chicago-based artist Jeff Donaldson of AfriCOBRA. Through live performance and discussion, the assembly asks pivotal questions about ongoing research into this important transcultural moment.
In Progress is a series of public programs designed to give artists, thinkers, and curators a platform for developing new works, and to give patrons a glimpse into the creative process. In Progress is organized by Curator January Parkos Arnall and Assistant Curator Christy LeMaster with the Performance and Public Practice team.
