In Progress: Move Me Soul

About

Move Me Soul, an MCA Community Partner, returns with an update to The Chississippi Mixtape, a 35-minute montage of dance and oral history performed by dancers ages 11 to 39 to a soundscape by sound and visual artist Damon Locks. The performance is inspired by the migration of early 20th century sharecroppers from Mississippi to Chicago. After the performance Move Me Soul solicits audience feedback in the development of the work.

In Progress is a series designed to give artists, thinkers, and curators a platform for developing new works, and to give patrons a glimpse into the creative process. This program is organized in partnership with Move Me Soul and Gibran Villalobos, Assistant Curator, Performance and Public Practice.
