Talk: Gary Tinterow on Inclusive Museums
Featured images
Museum leaders are increasingly focused on making their institutions more diverse, inclusive, and accessible. Gary Tinterow has been a driver of these changes in his celebrated 28-year tenure at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and now as director of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. In conversation with Angelique Power, president of the Field Foundation of Illinois, Tinterow will discuss the ways he is rethinking everything from exhibitions to infrastructure and even signage in his mission to make our cultural institutions spaces that “don’t just mirror what we already know, but instead expose us to new ideas, new cultures, and new works of art.”
MCA Talks highlight cutting-edge thinking and contemporary art practices across disciplines. This program is organized in collaboration with the Chicago Humanities Festival and the Dolores Kohl Education Foundation.
