Join Rob Sevier—one of the minds behind Chicago's favorite rare records label, Numero Group—and R&B artist Norman Whiteside as they share the process of restoring and re-releasing Whiteside's most influential record, Wee's You Can Fly on My Aeroplane. Since its re-relase, riffs fom Aeroplane have found their way into the music of several contemporary artists including Kanye West's 2013 song "Bound 2." The Numero Group's catalogue, now totaling releases by the hundreds, counts as a canon correction for popular music, excavating amateur ecosystems that might otherwise be lost. In digging through basements, attics, and storage spaces, the Numero Group uncovers networks of mom-and-pop recording studios, closed radio stations, and underground clubs and dance halls, as well as the exceptional musicians the main stream market has missed.
