Teacher Workshop January: Anne Collier
About
Looking for fresh ideas for your curriculum? Join us at our January Teacher Workshop, inspired by photographer Anne Collier.
Practicing artists design and lead our workshops, using exhibitions and works of art at the MCA as fodder. Investigate works of art in the galleries, make art, and connect these experiences back to your classroom.
Anne Collier(American, b. 1970) is the New York–based photographer's first major exhibition, and traces her career from 2002 to the present. Encompassing more than 40 works, the exhibition presents several themes that have dominated Collier's practice during the past decade, including pop psychology, the clichés and conventions of commercial photography, autobiography, and the act of looking or seeing. These recurring themes provide insights into pressing issues photographers often face today, especially an artist working in the powerful wake of feminism.
The MCA offers free teacher programs for Illinois teachers. Participants receive CPDUs. Vouchers for free parking in the MCA garage are provided pending availability.
