About the Artist
Lee Blalock is an interdisciplinary artist working with ideas of systems, order, and post-humanism. Originally from Pennsylvania, Lee has moved fluidly from an undergraduate STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education to a career in design and production, eventually finding that all of her interests converged in the fine arts. Lee's work describes the "amplified" human, destroying the existing framework of identity and replacing it with the re-engineered body. This new body (or “NeueBody”) is often represented as an abstraction of sound or a digital image. Live performances often repurpose the body as a controller of multiple media sources via physical computing or sculptural appendages. In all cases, the work is most often binary, mechanical, generative, and repetitive. Lee writes and performs under the moniker of Le^2\. Lee received her MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
