Outside the Screen

Outside the Screen brings together projects by three filmmakers who explore the potential of presenting film-based works outside of the conventional setting of the single screen movie theater. The program includes works by Kristin Reeves, Melika Bass, and Adebukola Bodunrin that combine multiple projection with sculptural and performance-band elements, or are site-specific in their response to the MCA building. These expanded cinema works also emphasize the social aspect of engaging with film media through the shared viewing experience.

The program is cocurated with Chicago-based film programmer Christy LeMaster, who introduces the event with a discussion on expanded cinema.
