In Koosil-ja Hwang’s class, dancers have an opportunity to explore a performance technique called Live Processing. Dancers see and read, then copy and combine movements, in real time, from a multitude of video sources displayed on monitors placed throughout the space. This technique conditions the body and mind to be more receptive to images in an environment—the eyes read, the brain processes, and the body renders. The videos become a potential for the creation of new movement beyond the trained body.
