Catch the undeniable cool of American tap and percussive dance when CHRP brings two exciting programs to the MCA as part of its 19th annual summer festival of performances, classes, and workshops. For more information, visit Chicago Human Rhythm Project.
The rousing festival finale, known as JUBA!, gathers some of the world's virtuosos on the same stage. The August 6 concert features CHRP's performing ensemble BAM!, Dormeshia Sumbry-Edwards, Jason Samuels Smith, Chloe Arnold, Jason Janas, Sam Weber, Dianne Walker, Lane Alexander, and Vijay Tellis-Nayak Trio.
The August 8 concert features BAM!, Cartier Collective, Chicago Tap Theatre, Jus' LisTeN, Jump Rhythm Jazz Project, North Carolina Youth Tap Ensemble, Footprints Tap Ensemble, Vijay Tellis-Nayak Trio, TapCo Youth Tap Ensemble from Vancouver, and Tappers with Attitude.

Step Afrika, America’s first professional dance group dedicated to steppin’, the dance form originated by African American fraternities based in African traditions, leads this technique class for adults of all levels. Stressing the group’s universal principles of teamwork, discipline, and commitment, participants will learn a short dance over the course of the week.
