About the Speakers
Eric Ellingsen teaches at the College of Architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology and is coeditor of Models, 306090 Books, volume 11\. His hybrid design work focuses on the mixing of architecture and landscape models, including vertical farming and urban agriculture. Most recently, he built a 23-foot vertical farm model for the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago and built and directed the design of two large installation models for Cecil Balmond's "Solid Void" at The Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts.
Deborah Stratman is a Chicago-based artist and filmmaker, whose works blend the experimental and documentary genres. Her films and other media works, including photography, sculpture, and drawing, emphasize the history, mythology, and control of various landscapes—from Muslim China, to rural Iceland, to suburban California.
