Robert Storr on Jenny Holzer’s Paintings
event description
In 2006, Jenny Holzer exhibited a series of silk-screened paintings based on declassified US government documents. These compelling yet little-known works feature prominently in the exhibition Jenny Holzer: PROTECT PROTECT, which also presents the artist's newest works in sculpture, LED installation, and large-scale projection. On the occasion of this exhibition, distinguished curator, critic, and artist Robert Storr examines how these paintings communicate meaning and the degree to which they represent continuities and shifts in Holzer's artistic practice.
