About
The great Mesopotamian epic, the veritable ur-tale, is reimagined as a powerful verse play by Pulitzer Prize–winning poet and Princeton professor Yusef Komunyakaa in collaboration with dramaturge Chad Gracia. Infused with powerful drama and human longing, the play will be brought to life as an enhanced staged reading by Chicago’s celebrated Silk Road Theatre Project under the direction of Jennifer Shook.
Following the performance, Komunyakaa, Gracia, and the creative team will join the audience in discussion.
The 19th annual Chicago Humanities Festival features 120 events at 30 venues citywide and runs October 3 to November 16. Programs include concerts, theater performances, exhibits, discussions, lectures, and films. For information, visit www.chfestival.org or call 312-494-9509.
