Chicago Humanities Festival:
Cyberconflict: Representations of War in New Media and Electronic Games
event description
Part of The Chicago Humanities Festival’s Peace and War: Facing Human Conflict
Today's lay "experience" of war comes courtesy of soldier-bloggers, once-censored photographs available online, and "first-person-shooter" video games. Columbia College professors of new media Annette Barbier and Brendan Riley, along with veteran video game producer Kevin Scott Mills, consider the impact of these new images on our perceptions of war.
