Leadership

Welcome

At the MCA, our staff, leaders, and Board are members of the communities we serve. We are a passionate and diverse group of individuals with varying backgrounds, interests, and life experiences, and those perspectives help to guide our work.

United by love for art and our vibrant creative community, our aim is to capture the spirit of access, inclusion, and equity in all we do.

Our main job as the MCA Leadership team is to work together towards the development and execution of the MCA Strategic Plan, a multi-year project that is building new museum infrastructures through the lens of inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility (I.D.E.A.) and operational stability.

Through the Strategic Plan, we aim to match programming and resources with the priorities of our staff, artists, and public by establishing channels for dialogue and facilitating ongoing conversations on the urgent issues of our time.

We are also deeply invested in creating an environment of staff wellbeing and building infrastructures that offer staff support in and outside of the museum walls, and that prioritize career development at all levels of employment.

We acknowledge that it takes work to grow, improve, and better our world, and that we cannot enact the goals of the Strategic Plan without care and without input from the people we serve.

We believe we are stronger when we are in conversation with one another, and hope you join us in this ongoing work and dialogue. We have provided a link to our contact form if you would like to share your thoughts with us or learn more about the many meaningful conversations taking place within our community.

In our mission towards making the MCA a more accessible and equitable place for all, we also invite you to learn more about MCA Leadership, Board, and museum policies and operations through our publicly available Annual Reports, Code of Conduct, Equal Opportunity Employer statement, and Cumulative Giving Report in the links below. Thanks for taking the time to get to know us—we hope to see you soon.

Commitments

The MCA deeply believes in the values of inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility (IDEA), and we are committed to enacting structural change by turning our beliefs into actions across key areas of the museum including our staff, collection acquisitions and programming, Board of Trustees, and institution-wide work. This page will be updated to reflect both our past commitments and their results, as well as our commitments to future work.

Safety

A heart shaped logo in the style of the MCA typeface

In response to the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have continuously updated our protocols. Our new practices are in place to keep staff and you, our visitors, healthy. Look below to learn about those practices and how to visit our building.

Community Agreement

The MCA is an inclusive space that welcomes all opinions and viewpoints, as well as dissent, disagreement, and institutional critique.

Annual Reports

The who, what, where, when, and how of any institution is revealed in its annual report. The MCA’s annual report lists the year’s exhibitions, performances, programs, donors, and acquisitions, and of course, the facts and figures that make it all add up.
