Jeff Kolar and jonCates experiment with destabilizing signals (i.e. "glitch" practices), creating complex systems of realtime audio/video in which they perform. Broadcasting and capturing transmissions through these systems to produce feedback patterns, distant echoes, and loops.

A common thread in their work is providing artists and musicians access to transmission platforms and global radio networks. In 2010, Kolar founded Radius, an experimental radio broadcast platform that hosts new episodes each month. Radius supports artists who engage with the electromagnetic spectrum as an artistic medium. Similarly, Cates founded NUMBERS.FM, an online radio station for “experimental musics, snd, audio arts && other uncategorizable sonic events” with Jake Elliott in 2011. Both projects have produced, exhibited, and distributed original work by experimental electronic artists and musicians from around the world.
