Over the last eight years, The Seldoms have quietly built a reputation for creating astute, inquisitive dances that engage the surrounding world both physically and intellectually. - New City
Hanson’s emphasis on shifting perspectives and the interconnectedness of art and life reminds us of the value of humanism, of gentleness and uncertainty and imagination, even of relativism. - Chicago Reader
Carrie Hanson … is a virtuoso of meticulous composition. - Time Out ChicagoFor Marchland, Chicago-based choreographer Carrie Hanson collaborates with visual artist Fraser Taylor to create a new ensemble work about mark-making, endurance, and borders. Hanson, the artistic director of The Seldoms, was inspired by Taylor’s video, CREVICE, a frenetic animation and sound piece that he created by making minute drawings directly onto the surface of clear 16mm film, later capturing the projected film with digital video. Marchland combines video, sculpture, and costume design by Chicago fashion designer Lara Miller with idiosyncratic movement, mimicking the same flickering, erratic, and charged qualities of Taylor’s video.

Box office will begin a waitlist one hour before the program begins. At that time, numbers are given out to patrons on a first-come, first-served basis, one number per patron per ticket. As tickets become available, box office staff will call out waitlist numbers in the order they are given out. Patrons must be present to take a number. As staff cannot predict when or if tickets will become available, it is important for those on the waitlist to remain within hearing distance. If a number is called and no one responds, box office staff will dismiss the number called and call the next number. Cash is preferred for waitlist transactions. Thank you for your cooperation and interest in this event.
